No — it works well. Fast-filling bag means efficient thatch removal. This lawn dethatcher comes with a 14.5-gal bag, great for small areas. Bag optional: take it off for large yards. Use the included thatch rake to clean up loosened thatch after use.

Is this a lawnmower? Can it cut grass?

No, it’s not a lawn mower. The TaskStar dethatcher uses vertical tines/steel blades that dig into soil, unlike a mower’s horizontal spinning blade. Keep grass ≤1.97 in. Mow taller grass first for smooth operation.

Is assembly easy or complicated? Do I need any tools?

It's easy to assemble, takes about 10 minutes, no tools needed. All hardware (bolts, knobs, washers) are included in the box.

My lawn is about 2000 sq ft. Will this work? How long will it take?

Yes — suitable for residential lawns up to ½ acre (20,000 sq ft). Estimated working time: 500–1,000 sq ft: 20–30 min; 1,000–2,000 sq ft: 30–45 min; 2,000–5,000 sq ft: 1–1.5 hrs; 5,000–10,000 sq ft: 2–3 hrs; 10,000–20,000 sq ft: 3–5 hrs.

Does it need an extension cord? What kind of extension cord do I need?

Yes. Wrong cords are the #1 motor failure cause. TaskStar 15A motor needs thick outdoor cords for full safe power.
